Broadcom closure of VMware IT Academy and Proxmox® transition
NETLAB+
Broadcom VMware has terminated the VMware IT Academy and Academic Software License programs. NETLAB+ has historically relied on the VMware vSphere hypervisor. NETLAB+ Version 25 supports Proxmox® as an alternative backend.
If you currently have or acquire a VMware vSphere license, NETLAB+ will continue to function as intended. Please note that a VMware vSphere license is not included with NETLAB+. VMware will continue as an option as a backend to NETLAB+ until VMware releases a software version that breaks NETLAB+ functionality.
Options:
- Utilize a license key obtained through your D2L IT Academy subscription.
- Purchase a VMware vSphere license.
- Utilize Proxmox®
In accordance with our Broadcom agreements, NDG has ended the VMware ICM and OSS labs. In our continued commitment to supporting learners and academic institutions, NDG is providing alternative virtualization learning options to enable academic institutions to transition from VMware while continuing to teach virtualization effectively.
